Guest guest
Hi , My name is Michele, and I just had Carpal Tunnel Release surgery and nerve damage repair at the same time. That was three weeks ago. I also have CMT. I asked the hand surgeon the same thing you were wondering about and he said that although they are quite similar, an experianced hand surgeon, will be able to determine through a complete exam and history check, exactly what is going on. I don't know yet if I made the right decision to have the surgery yet. Time will tell, but I can tell you that if you doubt, for any reason, what the doctor says, get another opinion. I trust my hand surgeon, he is the best in this region, and I made a point to ask how much he knew about CMT and I am quite satisfied with him. Let's hope I haven't put my trust in the wrong place. Be Careful, May Kindness and Love be your guide. Michele Also, just a small point, if your sister needs to use a cane or walking stick, or has any trouble with balance, to have someone there as much as possible after the surgery and til the time she gets her brace off, because she'll need all the help she can get. Guest guest
Some days I'd like to use mine on that rifle I have for keepin' the peace! (Just joking...I don't have a gun. I couldn't resist) Seriously though... Gwen, What is that? I have a bit of trouble with a pinky finger on one hand, but I'm not sure I'm familiar with it. Guest guest
My rehabilitation physician (physiatrist) was able to diagnose that mine was not carpal tunnel just by physical evaluation and analyzing recent repetetive activities. Is your sister doing something different with her hands than she used to? Definitely get a 2nd opinion. Melody CPT vrs. CMT > My sister has a mild case of CMT. Guest guest
Dear , As I've written before, I had the CPT release, and wrote about it. I am from Northeast Wisconsin, and my hand surgeon is one of the top in his field. If you are anywhere close to the Northern Indiana Border with Illinois and Wisconsin, I'd be glad to give you the name and address of my hand surgeon, and you could write him and maybe send him your sister's records, or even visit his office. It takes forever to get that first appointment, but everyone there, including my doctor, are great. He's worked with patients with CMT, and seems to understand our unique problems. I trust him. Take Care, Michele
Guest guest
I have had carpal tunnel surgery on both hands so has my daughter we both have CMT. There is pain with carpal tunnel especially a night it goes into your wrist and often further up it did with us. Both of ours worked it was definitely worth it the pain was gone but it can come back. My hand surgeon said to wait until I could no longer stand the pain. We were both given EMG to determine need for surgery because the nerve condutions were so slow from the CMT they had to go allot by feelings it affects certain fingers & I can't remember which maybe someone out there knows.I was told to only go to a hand surgeon & to never have the laser because of the CMT if you have any more questions I'll help if I can. Good luck : ;) flyingk@... wrote: > My sister has a mild case of CMT. She has been told that she has Carpal > Tunnel in one hand.
