Sherry,

My 13 yo daughter has CMT and her right hand just starting getting remarkedly

worse. She can no longer extend her fingers, they always stayed curled unless

we physically straighten them. She has seen the occupational therapist three

times in the past 2 weeks. The OT made a figure eight type plastic device

which keeps her thumb tucked under so she can pick up things and now write

better. the OT made it out of some moldable plastic and though she is self

conscious about it, she admits it helps alot. Good luck

hi sherry

im not sure if you heard about the dr.grip pen

i haven't tried it but i hear it works pretty good

it's a fat pen that has a grip like rubber on it

i first found out about this pen from this group

you can get it at an office depot or i think any office supply store might

have them.

good luck i hope things work out great for you......

Sherry, My fingers don't curl but my wrists and fingers are weak, especially

my right thumb (I'm right handed). I also have problems with writing, it is

difficult to hold onto the pen... I now use bigger pens and I know of other

CMT individual's that have very deformed hands and they use a Calligraphy pen

and find it easier to use and their writing is very legible.
