Guest guest
Sherry, My 13 yo daughter has CMT and her right hand just starting getting remarkedly worse. She can no longer extend her fingers, they always stayed curled unless we physically straighten them. She has seen the occupational therapist three times in the past 2 weeks. The OT made a figure eight type plastic device which keeps her thumb tucked under so she can pick up things and now write better. the OT made it out of some moldable plastic and though she is self conscious about it, she admits it helps alot. Good luck a

I also have problems with writing, it is difficult to hold onto the pen... I now use bigger pens and I know of other CMT individual's that have very deformed hands and they use a Calligraphy pen and find it easier to use and their writing is very legible.
