I was put on Nerontin 3 x's a day, which helped, I also took Flexeril at night and Vicodin ( 2 to 4 a night). My pain Dr. said he would write a prescription for what ever amount I told him I needed monthly..... But, when my family and I took a trip from OR thru CA, NV, and AZ. I discovered he was full of hot air. On our trip I suffered horribly all day long with pain, (not just at night like it usually is), so I would take pain pills. When I returned home I had to refill my prescription early because I had used more than normal due to the travel. My pain doctor told me that he shouldn't refill my RX early because I hadn't called him and asked his permission. He actually bawled me out for taking pain pills when I was in pain. He then proceeded to tell me that I was to never take an xtra pain pill without calling and asking his permission. I FIRED HIM!!!!! I then went back to my regular doctor and told him what happened and he has refilled my RX with no problem and told me to take them as needed..... How is a person susposed to know exactly when they will be in pain and exactly how much pain meds they may need to deal with the pain. This pain doctor was a control freak. By the way, I only take 1 vicodin a night now.... NOTHING ELSE!!! Jeanie

Guest guest
Jeanie, I love the idea of " firing " a doctor who doesn't work out for us. I think Gretchen has also used this terminology. I need to get that phrase into my working vocabulary. Guest guest
Hi Dimitrios, Joanie from CA here. CA = California, NV= Nevada, AZ=Arizona, RX= prescription. Flexeril is a muscle relaxant. and Vicodin is a narcotic pain medicine. Depending upon your doctor you can get Flexeril pretty easily, but also depending on your doctor you may or probably not get Vicodin. Doctors in the United States are really paranoid about narcotic pain medicine. They seem to feel that you will become an addict right off the bat. All Vicodin does for me is take away the pain. There are no other side effects ( for me) either good or bad. I don't turn into a raving maniac, or get some kind of " high " , or get dizzy or whatever. However, I do know that some people really can't think he they take some. That is the case with my husband. But, I repeat, I have no side effects at all.
