Exercise and RLS

Hi Betty and everyone,

I definitely agree with you regarding exercising in general.

I've read quite a few posts regarding strenuous exercise and how it can worsen

RLS, yet I find when I do overdo, it is when I get most sleep... Go figure.

I do 1hour weight resistance workouts each morning, but when I'm really

restless

and legs and arms are really at it, I do them again at night, sometimes as late

as

10pm. It's the urge to " burn " off that extra " energy " that runs through my

limbs

that makes me get on the treadmill or pump iron. So in essence, what most

reports

say about movement being a relief is true, for me anyway....

In a freaky way, I wouldn't be in such good shape, if it weren't for RLS...

Another thing, last weekend I did an extreme amount of gardening and I was dead

tired

in the end, and I slept like a rock. Maybe had something to do with the type

of body

movements (bending & straightening of the knees). Mind you, when I woke up,

my legs & arms were really bad and had to load up on medication first thing in

the

morning (something I rarely do). But in my mind, it was a good trade off: I

got to sleep!

Wishing everyone sleeps well :)
