Guest guest
, One of the things about Klonopin is the long half life it has. (That means that it takes several hours to make its way out of your body.) So even if you take it before bed, it will still be at a fairly high blood level in the morning. I took for a few weeks and could not tolerate the side effects. I had a long drive to work and was so sleepy I was dangerous behind the wheel. Xanax has a much shorter half life, and will not affect the daytime functioning nearly as much. Jo from balmy Missouri
Guest guest
Hi , I've used Klonopin twice now. It was the first med I ever tried in this fight with RLS. Originally I was prescribed 1.0mg 2x daily. I never took the morning dose. Now the night dose definitely put me to sleep - quickly! But I hated it. I would sleep for 10-12 hours every night, then wake up completely exhausted. It would literally take until after lunch for it to wear off, and who can take half the day to wake up?? The final straw, though, was that I got soooo stupid!! I swear I could feel each individual brain cell working, and it took forever to complete a thought. That stupidness never resolved until I quit taking the stuff. However, I only took the Klon for a month. During that month I had tried backing off to just 0.5mg and still wasn't happy with the results. So I figured if it wasn't better by then, it wasn't going to get better. So I moved on to Trazadone. When that became a problem, I switched to Sinamet last summer. It was fine alone for about a month, then I started taking Klon with it to help me get to sleep. Now I'm taking just 0.25mg Klon with the Sinamet at night. It helps me a little to get to sleep but I'm not majorly hung over in the mornings (now it takes me about an hour to wake up, but I'm sure that's because I hate mornings in general!). I can tell a difference in my thinking but I compensate for that by only taking the Klon when I will have a really busy day the next day. By being able to skip a night every 3rd night or so, I seem to be able to control the stupidness. Hope this helps. As you can tell, I have mixed feelings. Good luck. , Atlanta

Guest guest
I started taking klonopin 2 weeks ago, and I am glad to hear that the fatigue in the am will wear off. It's been hard. I take .5 mg at night before bed along with .5mg of Mirapex. Unfortunately, it's not helping with early evening pain. I'm driving my husband insane walking around and hitting my legs. Should I be reporting this to my dr. so that I can try something else or an addition. Sitting in a hot bath helps so that I can go to bed, but I can't be in the bathtub at 7pm every night with a 5-yr. old who needs constant attention (ADHD). Does anyone have suggestions? Thanks, Angie (35) At 10:39 AM 5/10/1999 -0600, Nat Dean wrote: > > >I have been taking 2 mg. of klonopin AM and PM, fatigue wore off after a >short time. Guest guest
Get more klonopin if it helped you. I have been on it with Sinemet for years. I take Sinemet 10/100 at night and 2 mg of Klonopin in AM and PM. Controls my RLS at night, but not foot tapping and swinging leg during the day. Still looking for that cure. May try mirapex, doctor is researching upon my suggustion after my research. Guest guest
I have been taking klonopin for years and it did not cause weight gain, but other meds I took for awhile did. Mostly several antidepressents I tried before settling on Paxil. Now I'm trying to lose the weight I gained. It's hard... but I'm sure it's not the Klonopin.
