Guest guest
Hi group: A neighbor told my husband that his problem is that he makes too many red blood cells. His doc said he'd heard that grapefruit helps cut down the production of rbc. We gave him several bags full because we have heavily laden citrus trees in our yard. Last Oct. my husband's rbc was normal. We started eating our grapefruit (usually a whole one per person per day) in late November. In Dec and Jan we continued eating the fruit but also had great stress (remodeliing of house) and in early Feb. my hubby ends up in hospital with severe anemia and was given 4 units of blood. None of the several docs could find any reason for the anemia...everything checked out fine. My question: Has anyone in this group heard about grapefruit juice cutting production of red blood cells? Could the consumption of a lot of it cause anemia? Where can I go on the Internet to find such information? I checked a couple of medical places, but I don't have the " computer smarts " to know how find specifically what I want to know. Thanks for any info.
