Introducing myself

Hello there,

This is Joanie in the Mojave Desert in Calif. Ridgecrest is about 160 miles

north of Los Angeles. This is a small town right next to the Naval Weapons

Center ( I think it has been renamed again) I am the only person with CMT here.

I already joined cmtilist so some of you have already heard of me, or at least

read something about me. In that case, you need go no further and can delete my

letter. I have CMT 2 and notice that most people who are writing to the

cmtilist seem to have CMT1. I am 68, a retired teacher, married, two grown sons

( one is a physicist, and the other is a doctor), tow grandsons and one

granddaughter. I have a lot of the stuff wrong that seem to come along with

age. Ho HO. Arthritis, migraines, IBS, and of course CMT. I use a cane, and

have developed a collection, so far, of 8. My brother also has CMT 2, and my

mother, now deceased also had it. My husband is not particularly supportive,

he is annoyed that I seem to be " sick all the time " . He wants a cure for CMT as

of yesterday!!! I have had a lot of falls. Don't mend easily. I have a left

foot accelerator in my car, as the last fracture, right foot, has left me unable

to use the right foot to drive.

I volunteer as a teacher for ESL (English as a second language). And my real

love is quilting!!!!!!!!!

So there you are. You all seem supportive, and it is nice to know that I am not

alone. This has been especially true in the matter of pain. Two weeks ago,

when I joined the cmtilist, I found out that most of you also have continual

pain. Yeah, I thought, they know what it is like!!
