Quitting list

Dear Jodi:

Could not leave without saying " goodbye " . The rls e-mail line that you

have been so kind as to maintain for the rest of us has been an invaluable

source of information for me. Reading the mail regarding the various

medications available for rls was very instructive. After weighing all the

possible alternatives to Ultram, I have decided not to take any

prescription drugs at all to alleviate the condition. It seems to me

there is not enough benefit from the drugs to warrant going through all the

side effects. It is six months since I " dumped " Ultram and my rls is now

about what it was before I started taking it for the pain of shingles. As

I said once before, the rls was far worse while I was on Ultram. For the

sake of a miserable hour or two of relief, I was walking the floor till 6

AM with the rebound effect.

I realize now that Ultram was certainly altering my moods. I can't help

but wonder if the folks on the various medications for rls realize how much

they affect personality and mood. Many of them speak of being in

" depression " . I am still suffering from " post herpetic neuralgia " pain but

I would rather live with that too than be weeping with sadness as a result

of the neurological changes effected by the Ultram.

You have my heartfelt sympathy for all the many afflictions you have

undergone over the past year or so. I hope things are easing up for you.

Thank you so much for all the work you have done on behalf of us restless

legs sufferers. Let us hope that there will be a real solution for our

problem....other than drugs, drugs and more drugs.

I must ask a favor: I have not retained the information I need to

unsubscribe from this list and ask your help in obtaining it. My husband

and I are taking a vacation in Germany and Austria and I need to attend to

this before we leave or I will have weeks and weeks of rls posts waiting

for me when I return.

Sincerely yours,

Ann Cianflone
