Guest guest
<< Now the Doctor wants me to take 1 spray of B-12 by my nose once a week for the rest of my life. >> Welcome Patty. I'd never heard of it. I'm learning all the time. My husband gets B12 shots monthly, but not for CMT. Spray vitamins seems to be very popular just now. The sites I found are selling it (as opposed to medical sites). A quick search didn't find any medical sites that explained it. Here is one site that tells about it. Were you taking folic acid when you had the shots? http://www.thewayup.com/products/0018.htm SUBLINGUAL B12 - FOLIC ACID This is a synergistic formulation of vitamin B12 & folic acid designed to improve absorption by dissolving under your tongue. It has a pleasant cherry flavor. Folic acid & Vitamin B12 function together in many metabolic processes such as amino acid conversion, the methylation of choline, methionine, serine, histidine, & nicotinamide. If a B12 deficiency exists, folic acid is trapped as methyl folate & is useless to the body. A deficiency of either B12 or folate acid results in the same symptoms, except decreased folic acid will not cause the irreversible nerve damage seen with vitamin B12 deficiency. Regeneration of the myelin sheath, which covers your nerves & is necessary for nerve transmission is dependent upon adequate B12 levels. See Vitamist B12 Spray & Folic acid for additional details on these 2 vitamins. DIRECTIONS: Chew slightly then dissolve under tongue 1-4 tabs daily 1- 2 times depending upon dose. The ability to absorb vitamin B12 from your food is dependent upon cells in your stomach producing a substance called intrinsic factor. For a variety of reasons, including aging, stomach disorders or the disease of pernicious anemia, there may not be enough intrinsic factor to aid B12 absorption. This is why vitamin B12 is often best taken sublingually so it can dissolve directly into your blood stream via the blood vessels under your tongue, as a spray into your nose, or by Injection. This is the way to be sure you absorb your Vitamin B12. http://www.thewayup.com/products/0296.htm SYMPTOMS OF VITAMIN B12 DEFICIENCY: * Depression * Decreased concentration * Decreased memory * Nervousness * Insomnia * Weakness/apathy * Fatigue * Mood swings/can resemble bipolar disorder * Confusion * Hallucinations * Paranoia * Psychosis * Decreased white blood cells. * Anemia (megaloblastic & pernicious) * Dizziness * Chest pain * Labored breathing * Disturbed digestion * Constipation * Changes in the gastro-intestinal tract * Sore tongue * Sprue * Intolerance to light & noise * Numbness & tingling * Degeneration of long nerve tracts in spinal cord * Walking & speaking difficulties * Hair loss * Decreased blood & tissue lipids * Disturbed carbohydrate metabolism
