Guest guest
Here's a fun one, folks. My twenty year old daughter was home from college last week. She said, " MOM!!! I have to do an Informative speech when I get back to school. What should I do it on? " So...Mom...yours truly...brings out all my printed info on RLS, including a copy of " Nightwalkers " ...and I send her back to school. She called today, to say it was a GREAT speech!!! She now knows more about it than I do. LOL She said, " So, I devided it into causes, symptoms, and treatments. " I asked, " So, what ARE the causes? " She told me a few things I didn't know. LOL Evidently, she did a great job from a public speaking aspect, too. (Which makes me proud, cuz my college degree was in public speaking.) She told them, right off the bat, " You may think this doesn't pertain to you, because you're 20 something and don't have these symptoms...but guess what! It often begins after traumas or surgery, or during pregnancy, or during middle age years. So, there's a great chance you'll get it! " I guess that from there on, she had their attention. And she ended with, " Ya know, when my mom found out she had this, I always teased her and called it 'retarded leg syndrome'...but now that I've learned more about it, I don't think it's something to joke about anymore. " Is that kewl, or what? Surprisingly enough, no one came up to her and said they had RLS. That's good news. But it's nice to know the word is getting out in all sorts of ways.
