Guest guest
Hello Jodi, I'm glad to hear you're feeling better. Chronic pain is quite a burden to live with especially when you have to work or raise a family. If the valium works for you, it may be your answer until a better med is recommended by your physician. I was put on diazepam (valium) and sinemet by a neurologist at the Veteran's Administration for severe RLS after six years of limited relief and many undesirable side-effects from a long list of drugs that did not include benzodiazepines. I also experienced mild chronic pain from a Vietnam injury. I took these meds at night and was relieved of RLS symptoms, the pain and slept undisturbed. I had to stop the sinemet but he kept me on the valium but eventually it too failed to help me. I asked for ultram (and got it, I'm unable to take opioids), stopped the valium and promptly experienced withdrawal symptoms and quickly learned that you have to be weaned off slowly. I was never told that valium was addictive or instructed properly on how to stop. Maybe Art is on to something about the best med is no med…. or maybe just 'less is more'. I've since learned to be more proactive about my medical care. I hope you continue to improve and live pain free.
