Guest guest
I am the girl scout co leader. I am stressing this cookie boothing stuff next month. I have to do 9 or more hours outside in the weather. I signed up for afternoon boothing hoping it will be warmer and I am also taking my husband with me when ever he can go. I hope I don't freeze so bad my hands don't work. Any ideas?

(Not as a co-leader, but as a supportive mom ) Your best allys will be the girls themselves. How old is the troop??? If they are brownies or junior girl scouts, they will do 95 % of the work (and embarass you in the process!) If you are having problems handling money in the cold weather, (been there, done that) then ask a girl to help you while you smile and CLOSELY supervise. Believe me, they get a big kick out of handling the money! (And may I emphasize CLOSE supervision!!!) Have fun. It's a great way to spend time with your daughter. Ruth >> Ruth thank you so much. Great idea to let the girls help with the money. I was worried about the cold weathe and handling money. Not many people understand what we go through. Thank you so much. I wish boothing was in May. March is to cold.

Guest guest
, Here's a few more tips (based on experience) to make the booth sales go smoothly. 1. I'm assuming another adult will be with you. You can't focus on the money and all the girls at the same time. 2. Some moms may wonder why you let the girls handle the money. Explain to them that you will be the eagle eyes and adult brain in the money exhange, while the girl helping you will be the hands and the learning brain. This is a great time for girls to learn how a retail business exchange with real money works. 3. ALL the girls will want to help with the money, All will want to be first and ALL will want to help at the same time! You should only have 1 money helper at one time. Give each girl a 15 or 20 minute shift to assist you. Make sure any girl who wants to help gets her shift. If you have a troop meeting before your cookie booth weekend, go over this plan with the girls so they know what to expect. Explain to the girls that handling money is a HUGE responsibility and anyone who breaks any rules you set up to make this work will not be allowed to help. Explain that as an adult you have to validate every exchange of money. They are the hands - you are the brain guiding the hands. Hope this works for you! Have a great time and here's a prayer for a warm, sunny weekend!
