Guest guest
, I think God does not care what you wear to church as long as you are there with the spirit of worship, reverence for him, and love. My church was hung up on clothes for a long time. Strangers would come off the street, see the way people dress and turn right around and leave. I wear slacks a majority of the time now and so do many others. Some people wears jeans. My daughter who has CMT wears " clunky shoes " but who cares. She is there to worship God, not have people admire her fashion statements. She even has to climb stairs to get to her sunday School room. I hate to watch her struggle but she gets it done and now people wait pateintly at the bottom and chat and don't even try to pass her cause they know if the brush past her too rough, she may tumble. My daughter and I found some great slips with those linen type ruffles at the bottom. They go down farther than a mid calf dress. This is a nice way to cover up the orthotics. You are all teaching me how to be creative!! a in Eugene, OR
Guest guest
The problen with religion is that people mess it all up. Jesus broke bread with all the sinners. The Pharisees got mad because he performed a miracle on the Sabbath. Jesus did acts out of kindness and love. He did NOT give a list of rules as who could wear what to church, how to kneel, etc. HE knows if you can kneel but not get back up. He knows what is in your heart and that you would do that if you could. Proverbs 15:1 " A gentle answer turns away wrath but a harsh word stirs up anger. " Tell them, God understands my problem and loves me even if I can't kneel, wear fancy shoes, etc. My heart is aching for you all that have experienced these problems in their church. Come with me to church. We have people in wheelchairs who can't talk let alone kneel. WE have senior citizens with walkers and canes, who can't kneel but bow their heads reverently in prayer, we have my 13 yo daughter who has tripped up the stairs at the altar, but we love them all anyway and more importantly, Jesus loves them and died for them too! I have added you all to my prayer list. a

Guest guest
I have been saddened and appalled by the stories of CMT people being mistreated at church. As I have begun to have more problems walking smoothly and have become sensitive to being noticed, I know my church is the safest, most compassionate place I can go in public. Partly because of the hot weather and partly because of the casual culture of a desert resort community, the people at my church do not get discriminatory about the attire of worshipers. In summer, even the ushers wear golf shirts and slacks though we have a beautiful church with formal, high liturgy services. While some people wear very dressy clothes all year long, it is not uncommon to see some members and visitors come to church in shorts and sandals when it is really hot outside. To make it even more comfortable for everyone, the church bulletin clearly states that people may kneel, stand, or sit as they prefer (or are able). The problems at the churches can only be solved if the pastor and the church leaders make the necessary policy and/or cultural changes. Guest guest
Dear , You said-Well If this were the case I was a big time sinner and can't even remember all the fun I had sinning! What a bummer. --------------------------------- Way to go, I love it. A sense of humor will always help get us through. Kat, a, Jim, and others who made comments about church and dress--I too believe God doesn't care if you wear a skirt or slacks--only that you made the effort and came. In the summer, years ago, when I was young--make that many, many years ago, LOL--we weren't suposed to wear a sleeveless dress or sun-dress. Now you see all kinds of attire, including as said, shorts and jeans. And our church is full to SRO some Sundays.
