If you are willing to try anything, why not try a more " up-to-date " medication like Permax, Mirapex, etc. RAINBOWPED@...

Guest guest
Hi Mark and RLS Folks: I sent out an e-mail a few days ago, my first. Since then I've just been sittin' here reading all the stuff you all send. Question Mark (and others). You seem a bit testy when mentioning sinemet. I was on it about two weeks. I take it at night for the restless leg which I didn't know I had, but a sleep study found it. They tried me on the sinemet, but then I was having restless leg during the day and boy I KNEW IT! So now they have me on permet or something and while I have some symptoms during the day they are milder. I'd really like to know what your experience with these two meds are. I've been on them for such a short time, and I believe " forwarned is forearmed. " I've known I had rls for about 25 years (my three sisters, Mom and all her sisters seem to have it). I've kept it under control with vitamin E (1200 i.u.) and B vitamins (B-50 2 x a day or B-100 1-2 x a day). I'm not religious about my vitamins, but fairly faithful. This has kept things just fine until I discovered they discovered it in the sleep study. Any experiences sent will be gratefully accepted and read. God bless you all, Kathleen Temecula, California Mark Conley wrote: > From: markconley@... (Mark Conley) > > Thanks candy, I called Arizona to get a sample. Guest guest
Kathleen & group, I wonder why, if you were keeping your RLS in check, that anyone put you on a different drug. IMO Sinimet only increases the agony of this disease. I know that I am am not everyone, but after finally getting off Requip, I will not take anything, ever again, that increases my symptoms. Even though it does keep it in check, you HAVE to take it or you will be CRAZY. you are absolutely tied to it. When I first joined this list, I made it very clear that I was over suffereing and I would take " anything " that would help with this. Well, I was wrong, because I didn't realize what other agonies those drugs were bringing with them. It took several weeks and a lot of suffering to get off the Requip, but I did it. i'm only taking Xanax at the moment, and last night (after a 4.3 mile run - YES) I went to bed and slept with no meds, for the first time in years. Now I'm not living in a fantasy world. I realize, because i've been there too many times that It will get worse again, I'll have to take more meds to stop the " action " and I'll be looking for something new again. In the meantime, no matter how short lived, I'm happy to be off of a drug that i could not forget to take. I don't intend to suggest that this is for anyone else, but right now, for me, I am feeling better than I have in a long time. I would like to say in closing, that I truly don't mind who argues, who agrees, who kicks and fights, or who loves and sends greetings. I care about you all, and know that everyone handles stress, illness, and life in general - in different ways. I'm just glad to be here and have the support and knowledge of this group. Continue to agree and disagree, the whole world does, and if everyone agreed about everything we would never make new discoveries. Love, care & sweet dreams to all, Ninette
