My feet too get so hot, that's why summer is so difficult. These splints are

not made for summertime wear.........finding sandals would definitely be a

challenge but in my case it would not work because I need the ankle support,

definitely. People who do not have this disease to deal with have NO IDEA how

difficult it is to keep finding things that work better for us in living with

this ever challenging disease. Our condition changes and we have to constantly

be ready to meet these new challenges.

Dress shoes and AFO's

You really touched a nerve (pun intended) about what shoes to wear with

AFO's and/or orthotics. I have absolutely loved shoes since I was teen

and it has become progressively harder to find a shoe that I like,

supports my ankle and fits my budget! There are actually many nice

lace-up shoes and ankle boots that are quite attractive right now and

would probably work with your AFO's if you go up a size.

One issue I deal with in the summer and that has been discussed before,

is the fact that my feet get sooo hot! Wearing sneakers all the time

mentally challenges me and I break down and wear sandals that don't

support my ankle and make me walk sloppily. I may try to find a modified

sandal with open toes and a full back this summer. Does anyone have any

advice to this? Thanks again for the support.

Gretchen Thanks for the web address on dress shoes for people wearing

orthotics. We batttle this when I take my daughter shoe shopping. Her feet

measure a size 8 but we wind up buying size 11 with orthotics in place. She

is already dreading buying shoes for her 8th grade graduation/dance. I hope

this site will help. I am amazed of the wealth of information you all have to

share.

i wear the cheap light weight slip on shoes with elestci from kmart. You

don't need socks and they are only 5 dollars a pair. They come in all colors.

Of course I have ankle fusions so I don't worry about that. My problem is

most shoes are to heavy for me.
