While I don't know if it does, I do like riding bikes, although, just like everything else, I need to pace myself. >> I believe this is another very individual matter. Some CMTers can and may benefit, others can't or won't benefit, or may be harmed by doing it. My mom's neuro didn't know why she was suddenly becoming so weak, and he assumed this formerly very active woman had gotten lazy, so he told her to buy a stationary bike and ride a few miles every day. She did that, and she rapidly got weaker than ever. After a few weeks she was no longer even able to get up on the bike. If I had know what was happening I think I would have told her to stop sooner, but she was not diagnosed and no one knew what was causing her weakness. The bike seemed to use up whatever reserve she had left. From then on she got around with a walker, slowly and with tremendous effort. Mom had always been fiercely independent, but after the bike incident I knew I needed to pay much more attention to her, and make sure she was safe, and I did. In the chat room I've met a couple of people who are able to bike often, and enjoy it. They believe it's helping them. Different strokes for different folks, especially CMTers. Each person has to find out his or her own abilities and limits. Kat in Seattle
Guest guest
Hello all CMTUS'ers! I tried to post a few days ago, but something must have gone wrong. So, I'll try it again My pal, Steve, has CMT, and his Doctors haven't been able to help him much. Has anyone tried anything in the holistic/homeopathic area for relief, and if so, what? I promised him I'd research it, but it a dead end on all of my normal sources. Guest guest
I ride a bike everywhere, it is a lot cheaper than running a car, and a lot better for you overall. Round Ipswich there are lots of hills, that is a challenge, because it is either cycle up them, or walk, and I know which is easiest!
