Guest guest
To group and Dr. Levin Ended up in emergency room last Friday night, problem with Vertigo, never had this before. They gave me a pill called Anivert, which helped, but when I got home around 3 am Saturday morning, really had a bout with rls. Do you or anyone in group know if this will set off rls or if this just happened? Would appreciate any input. Haven't had to take any more of the medication so don't know if this would happen again. My rls can happen anytime day or night but was just wondering if this might have caused this one. Thanks in advance Versie 62 North Carolina
Guest guest
Versie Antivert (meclizine) is an antihistamine that has been found useful in treating vertigo. Antihistamines will aggravate RLS in some people. Chances are, if you take it again, you will have another bad bout of RLS. Guest guest
Hi, All........ I just want to interject one comment about Antivert..........and share some thoughts about dizziness, which seems to be something a lot of us are experiencing. Years ago I had an incident where my lips swelled up very badly. It scared me because I had read that any swelling near the mouth or throat could be very dangerous, possibly closing the airways....... I went to a clinic that is connected to our local Emergency Room and they gave me Antivert. I also had incidents of dizziness, that I believe I have narrowed down to just being " positional vertigo " along with some sinus congestion. It just comes and goes maybe once or twice a year I had to cancel a Yoga class because I could not be getting up and down and lifting my head the way they did. I would leave the class feeling so ill. I also have to be very careful gardening now. This involves constant bending down to pick a weed or dig something. I have learned to control the angle of my head, to do as much as I can while I am down there, and to get up and down very slowly. I rake tons and tons of leaves........but my husband has to bend down and pick them up......:-) The funniest thing about it all was that this medication was and is given for dizziness all of the time.........but if you read the side effects listed for it..............dizziness is one of the first ones on there.j!............that sort of boggles my mind a little............to take a medication for dizziness that can cause dizziness......... But then, as you all know.......my mind boggles pretty easily sometimes........ Have a wonderful day, Everyone.......it is sunny and warmish here and I am about to give myself a perm........a job that I hate, but must do. Hope your weather is nice, too...........sleep well.......... Connie, 61- 3/4 , MD
Guest guest
I took anivert about 1 1/2 years ago. I was constantly light headed and had a hard time driving. The Dr. gave me anivert to try, it made me feel really really strange and didn't help at all. I do remember my legs bothering me worse, day or night after I took this stuff. I only tried it for 2 days and couldn't stand the way it made me feel. I finally cleared up my dizzy feeling by using sudafed, as long as I took two of those at the recommended time I was okay. No more anivert for me, it's on my list of drugs to stay away from.
