Guest guest
Dear Corrie: I too am very disappointed with the attitudes of many people on this site. I agree with your decision to give up this group. I have tried to engage them with some new thinking for a few days and I can't see myself staying much longer. I can't seem to get beyond an opening statement. They have a tremendous thinking blockage. I see little future in being so cynical and mistrustful. I wonder what they hope will come their way when they are so negative. I wish you the best of luck with your future efforts. Sincerely, McDonagh, M.D.

Guest guest
Corrie, I have been a member of this support for about a week. I have mixed emotions. First, I have learned a great deal about RLS that I never knew about....all because of this group. Because of that I am able to work with my doctor better and help him to take more of an interest in me and this illness. Second, I am glad that most of the members, at least the ones who post messages on a daily basis, seem to have found a viable place to communicate. However, I also have determined that there is just too much antagonistic behavior. True, we all have our own personalities and have our own ways of sharing our thoughts. Perhaps it makes some people feel better about themselves when they verbally attack anothers. I do not think it is constructive to be so downright nasty and mean. What does it accomplish? Perhaps, that is their sense of humor? And as for the e-mail!!! I hate not to open each letter as I mught miss some useful information, but for Pete's sake!!!! Most of the replies should be sent to the sender and not to the onelist group. What a waste of my time!!! I am sorry, but I, too may have to unsubscribe to the mailing list. I have a hard time understanding how adults can be so petty. BUT HURRAH for the few members who use this group for its intended use. I am not very good at expressing myself and I hope I have not offended anyone. Does anyone else share Corrie's and my feelings? Guest guest
Hi Group, Felt badly about Corie's reasons for leaving - I don't remember posts from her, but she said she was ignored, except by a few, so there must have been. As for your comments, Dr. McDanagh, I am open to finding out more about your theory, as I indicated in my post to you, but why can't this be accomplished closer to where I live, rather than traveling to Chicago? I live midway between New York and Philadelphia - not exactly the medical boonies, if you know what I mean! We all have been round and round with so many different theories, none of which really fix the problem for most of us, that you can't blame us for being careful about something that no one can verify works. (except you, and you're selling it!) If someone in the group has success with something, it would have a lot more support. If your intentions are just to help, maybe you could facilitate an access to this treatment with referrals to doctors in the areas in which we live. I live in Lawrenceville, NJ, and could travel to New York or Philadelphia if necessary. ne, 59, Lawrenceville, NJ ___________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. But I too have found myself about ready to unsubscribe many times due to the high noise level and extraneous posts. But I really don't agree that it is " nasty and mean. " Skeptical perhaps--mean-spirited NO. Remember, most of us have been jerked around by doctors for far too long and are therefore rather cynical of the medical profession--even as we work with them for relief. >And as for the e-mail!!! I am just glad that I set up a yahoo mailbox excusivly for this list so that it doesn't plug up my regular e-mail account. You might try that too. Then you can read the RLS posts when you have time (and perhaps patience). The only downside is that it takes longer to retrieve each message. Just a thought. --, 53, western NY State _________________________________________________________

Guest guest
Just because you don't agree with what this person has to say; shouldn't you have the common decency to hear them out? Then if you still disagree say so in a polite manner? Not gang up on him like a pack of wolves. Everyone has their own opinion and that's good. But we would be nowhere in this world without people that move away from the ' normal'. Or the predictable. Do we have a cure yet? Until we do shouldn't we listen with an open mind and each person make their own decisions? By a person wanting to oust this person it's taking the right away to make up our own minds. And possibly cutting us off from future people that might be of help. And I am not a passive person so don't think that I can be intimidated to leave the group. The people that are passive need to be able to have the option to hear all the new information available. And I can and will see that they get that option if at all in my power. And if you disagree that's your choice. But it won't stop me. COCO Mo.
