good question. I wouldn't know. I can't have MRI. I have screws in my ankle. It

does sound like it might help. It would be interesting to know.

Does anyone know if an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging - a type of scan)

can tell anything about CMT? Like would muscle atrophy show up? Would

nerve damage show up? Could an MRI be used as a diagnostic tool for CMT?

Anyone had one recently and learned anything new about their CMT?

Not to my knowledge. This is a sensorimotor neuropathy [affects

I'm not a medical person.

As I understand it, the MRI is used to detect problems with the CNS (Central

Nervous System). Sometimes CMTers are given an MRI to rule out CNS

involvement, not to tell about their PNS (Peripheral Nervous System). CMT

involves only PNS most of the time. (In very rare cases CMTers have

involvement of both their PNS and CNS.)
