Most people don't understand the principles behind homeopathic medicine but to give you a good practical example: Let's say that your child has a fever. You want to give your child something for the fever. You go to a homeopathic practicioner. This practicioner gives you following instructions. " Take a dropperful of acetaminophen (e.g. Tylenol) and squirt it into an Olympic-sized swimming pool. Wait awhile and then go the other end of the swimming pool and draw up one dropperful of the water and then give it to your child. That should relieve your child's fever and symptoms. Homeopathy is making a comeback because people are getting smarter about their health, asking questions, researching their illnesses and not simply taking a doctor's word as gospel and wondering why the rest of the world practices and respects Homeopathy while it has been pooh-poohed here in the US. The efficacy of Homeopathic remedies has been demonstrated by 200 years of successful use by physicians. Aside from this clinical evidence, there is also prominent scientific research published in various medical journals. There are more than 100 double-blind clinical studies which document the efficacy of Homeopathic remedies. >> Not true! Homeopathic products are derived from minerals, botanical substances, animal parts, microorganisms and who knows what else since they are often NOT chemically defined. (reminds me of snake oil, you know) The Homoeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the US provides protocols for preparing more than 1,200 " substances " for homeopathic use. Homeopaths believe that a substance can be used therapeutically when it produces a pattern of symptoms in a healthy person that is similar to the pattern seen in a person with a particular disease ( " like cures like " ). So, uh, does anyone know a substance that produces RLS in a " healthy " person that can be used to treat RLS? RAINBOWPED@...

Guest guest
I would hope that before anyone flies off the handle downing any medical specialty, and that is what homeopathy is, they would find out just how a physician goes about treating a patient with homeopathic medications. You were correct as far as you went , in your distinctive snide way, but you exposed your ignorance by your last remark. Homeopathy treats the WHOLE person not just a list of symptoms. Allopathic physicians normally see from 30 to 40 patients a day alloting perhaps 10 minutes a patient whether they're a new patient or a repeat. That's hardly enough time to do a proper job. A Homeopathic physician sees about 10 patients a day and spends at least an hour with a new patient. That hour is spent not only going over symptoms but takes in much, much more. There's not room enough here to go into it further. Besides I can recognize a closed mind even on paper. My motto is if it don't hurt, don't cost much, is interesting and just may prove to be something good I'll pursue it. That's what makes life so darned inviting!! CHEERS!!
