It went on about all day. This morning, again, the same thing. He is fine if he is sitting or laying, but when he walks he is walking on his tippy-toes and his knees are bent outward. He says he cannot walk with his heel down b/c it hurt. Is this something others experience due to CMT? He told me that his legs have hurt there before, but never to this point. I am not sending him to school today, and am worried. He has a doctors appointment March 15 with a new dr. b/c the one he has now just says there is nothing that can be done, that it will progress..da da da....you know the story. So anyway what do I do until March 15. Yesterday when we left the house we had to carry him to the car b/c he was in so much pain getting down the stairs. >> He is getting the short heel cord pain. Have him do stretching exercises. This is one I did when I was young. I had my hands against a wall and pushed down with my feet like I was pushing the wall away. You can really feel the titeness when you do this. The object is to stretch those tendons and heel cord out. I had PT therapy for this problem for years. You may want to see a PT to get more exercises. Swimming is a great time to stretch them out against the pool sides and bottom. Also pain meds are something I would consider like advil. The Dr. suggested a night splint to help with the tightening at night. I used to crawl out of bed until my heel cords would loosen up a bit. I was 6. Mind you this is all stuff my Dr. had me do for myslef and my children. I am not a Dr. or nurse.
