However, as I understand it, if you take something acidic like orange juice, and don't follow it up soon with a food or supplement containing Calcium, that mineral will be pulled out of your system to deal with that acidity. I believe that is one of the reasons that some orange juice comes with Calcium added to it. But more importantly, I think that the food combinations contained in the " standard American diet " , which tends to emphasize acid foods (as in all meats, poultry, most grains, sugar, and Pasturized milk products) are not good for RLS. As stated by Dr. Ralph Golan in his book " Optimal Wellness " , " if alkalizing dietary minerals (as supplied by most fruits and most vegetables) are insufficient, chronic acidity will contribute to the demineralization of your body's tissues, teeth and bones.....Consequently, as minerals leave the nervous system, you can develop nervous and emotional disorders " . It seems to me that this can occur to some extent even on a short time basis, based on personal observations that it has recently only been the times when I ate more than my usual quota of 3-4 oz of meat or chicken with dinner that my RLS has acted badly later in the evening. > Don in Albuquerque, NM > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ >
