Guest guest
Hi everyone...Robin here I was diagnosed almost 30 years ago with CMT. I remember my doctor saying that no one knew at the time how the disease would progress. I could be ambulatory for ever, or I could be in a wheelchair. He also told me not to put myself in any situations where I could break an ankle or leg....because if I ended up in a cast, I would lose a lot of my muscle mass and would probably not get it back. Therefore...he kept me out of active gym classes and had me swim for exercise instead. I am now 45 years old...and lead a fairly active normal life. There are a lot of physical things I have problems doing...stairs, running, etc, but I still work full time as a Nurse and try to stay as active as possible. I try very hard not to let my CMT get the best of me. I have good days and bad days like everyone else. But I try to live life to the fullest each day..and not worry about what the future will bring. __________________________________________________
