So, uh, why does the " rest of the world " come to the US for their medical

treatment if at all possible and why does the " rest of the world " try to

emulate/copy/achieve the same standards of medical care as in the US? The

medical " establishment " in the US is still second to none and is still highly

respected by the rest of the world. In China, yes, they still use ancient

Chinese medicines but guess what, the Chinese doctors are vigorously trained

in and taught " Western " medicine (just in case the herbs don't work, you

know).

And many " western " doctors have been going over to China to study their

ways. That's why acupuncture is now in such wide use in this country and

why it's even covered under many medical plans (including mine). You're

wrong saying so many people come over here for our " great " medical

treatments. Even our infant mortality rate is far below that of other

countries. You're right, the King of Jordan came over here to be treated

for cancer. Didn't do the poor man much good. The people who come over

here are usually extreme cases and not all of them go home happy, much

poorer perhaps.

Sure we have a good medical system. We should have. Look how much it's

cost us and continues to cost us. It's gotten SO costly that a lot of

middle class folks are dropping through the cracks and can't afford the

medical insurance though they earn a bit too much for welfare.

I have relatives in europe who though far from wealthy manage to visit a spa

at least once a year for several weeks to revitalize and get whatever

medical attention they need. I also have relatives and friends in Australia

and England who are very satisfied with their medical care which is at

government expense. They don't seem to think of the US as a utopia for

medical treatment.

Nah , we've got a long way to go in this country before we can honk

our horn as loud as you think we should.

Cheers!
