HEAVY LIFTING

Hi Carol,

Happens all the time. I try not to pick up anything too heavy as a rule due to

a

very sensitive back and sciatic problems. But, when I overdo, terrible nights

follow.... Spring cleaning is tough on my RLS, but gardening chores aren't; and

I

do alot of gardening. I suppose the difference is the muscle group you're

using. I say this because I also do weight resistance training but since the

machines I use support my back, I don't have adverse effects as I do when

doing serious housework....trim body, manicured garden, house in shambles, go

figure.... :)

KIDS & MORALS

I remember being snitched on by neighbours when I was a kid. The usual

pranks, etc. Completely harmless in today's standards, really. However, they

could have escalated to serious stuff if me and my cohorts weren't stopped.

My parents were newly arrived to Canada, new way of life, new rules than what

they were accustomed to. E.g.. had to lock doors at night, don't leave kids at

home by themselves, etc. But they worked, all day, late, and weekends too. They

were working hard to provide for their kids. Yeah, we got lost in the shuffle

and were trouble makers to seek attention from them, but we respected our

authorities back then. Teachers, even the pesky neighbours, it only took one

word from them and we wouldn't repeat it. We wouldn't dare talk back or swear

at any of them. Respect is the key word here, IMHO. I stayed home with my kids

and took part time jobs when they were in school full time so that I'd be home

afterschool with them. Not everyone can do this. And parents shouldn't be made

to feel guilty either if they can't stay home for obvious reasons. BUT it

doesn't excuse them for not being in tune with the kid's comings & goings and

who their friends are. I'm also a great believer of " the apple doesn't fall too

far from the tree " , so I get to know the kid's parents too. :)
