I am a pro at finding places to sit and interestingly enough people then come to me. I do think that churches should have more outdoor chairs/benches to sit down at after services if they want to encourage any sense of 'community' like this. Think of all the elderly and other disabled people that might stay if there was seating. Gretchen >> OK heres a problem. If I sit to long my legs fall asleep.. My church used to have big long heavy pews, but now they have chairs that link together. Needless to say when I try to sit or get up by holding or pushing onto the back of the chair or even the side of the chair, the chair moves on me.... Then I can't get up... I hate it when the pastor says would everyone please stand. Up down, Up down, Up down. HELP!!!! So I just sit.... LOL >> I sit during the flag salute sometimes. People think I am a JW sometimes. Guest guest
Hi, I just got back on the list after being on no mail for a while since I was going some moving problems, plus usually I just sit back and read, but I wanted to comment on this subject. My church thankfully still has the big heavy wooden pews. I do have a problem when standing during prayer and singing but I usually hold on so it is not that bad. What I have a problem with is when I have to stand in front of the church for one reason or another and we start a prayer. Only once did I do it freestyle without holding on to anything. Well lets put it to this way my church now all knows about CMT for I went down during the Lords Prayer when my son was being dedicated. Now when that need arises that I need to be up front and a prayer will be stated my pastor is next to me so that I may hold on to him or a chair is near by. Just wanted to share this for my face was redder than an apple. That is the only balance problem I have had in Church. Guest guest
I have found as long as I have some part of body grounded so to speak I can keep my balance. My heal might be against something, or the back of my leg, my side. My problem comes when I am on soft ground, like a lawn or thick carpet, etc.
