Guest guest
Hi everyone, Some responses as per subject header. BTW, I've been nursing the flu and bronchitis last couple of days. Again with the antibiotics I got some real good rest and ALL night sleep. NEW PAINS Hi Kristy, I've had the pains you describe and to my right leg as well. Usually, this happens during the day after a really bad night. some days, I limp around like the leg lost it's joints or something. The really bad nights consist of non-stop RLS and major cramps. When I've had an especially busy day, standing, walking around, the pain does shoot from bottom up. I tend to take a muscle relaxant with codeine. Does the trick. When around the house, I try to wear my running shoes for absorbing walking impact (we have ceramic tiles & hardwood floors). This helps too. Also, I've been told as you get older, one loses arch in foot, and similar pains may occur. It's hard to tell if this is related to RLS. I was never one to get cramps at night when I was in my teens. Just the growing pain stuff, but nothing like this. I'm just thankful that it doesn't happen everynight, maybe once every few weeks. My right hip is also on the bandwagon for giving me grief....will have to see a doctor about these pains.... ANTIDEPRESSANTS Hi Cecilia, Here is a site that will list many medications used for RLS. They are listed in categories, including antidepressants/benzodiazepines and related drugs. http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/somno/rlsrx.htm NON-PRESCRIPTION STUFF Hi , I'm not on prescription med's just yet. I have been taking several things and I try to alternate them so as not to get immuned to any of them. What's working for me so far is: Calms Forte- I take during the day and early evening Chamomile Tea -after 2pm instead of coffee Valerian Root - 2 before bed time - induces sleep SleepyTime Tea - is the valerian root chaser- double whammy Gravol- 2 in early am hours- induces sleep St. 's Wort, Evening Primrose oil -also for endometriosis Tylenol with Codeine- for really bad attacks Robaxicet (muscle relaxant with codeine)-when the cramps kick in Supplements: folic acid, magnesium, iron, and calcium once a day I have experienced augmentation with Valerian root & gravol. However, each of these get me to sleep for at least 3-4 hrs. When I combine the 2, I can get away with 6-8 hrs sleep most nights. But when I wake up it can be pretty bad. The problem is dealing with 45min of augmentation before next remedy kicks in. I'm still looking for something that will knock me out the whole night without side effects in the morning, nausea, heavy head, etc.... I tried Lorazapam the other night (my mom's stuff). Whew! What a Trip!. Don't want to do that again anytime soon! ALLERGIES & ANTIHISTAMINES I found allergy med's make my RLS worse. I haven't taken my seasonal shots and so far so good. Check in with me when the pollen really gets in the air, I may not have same comment, hehehe:) Welcome Newbies to the group!!!! Hope all this helps....
