RLS can be a " great " mimicker of other problems, serious and not-so-serious. I think that is one reason we, RLS'ers, catch so much flak from health care providers and others after we are " worked-up " and all the tests are " negative " (again!). The docs get frustrated because they can't find anything (docs like to find things, you know), The patient gets frustrated because " nothing " is found and are not provided a " real " answer for their symptoms. However, we must not give up nor must we become too resigned to our fate. We are still humans with human bodies that can go awry. Any " new " symptom needs to be carefully evaluated and thought about so as not to miss something that should have been diagnosed earlier in spite of our RLS. RAINBOWPED@... Guest guest
It's 5 AM here in Poultney and it seems like several of us are having a sleepless uncomfortable night. I've been up since 3 AM trekking the stairs for my crackers and milk (didn't help), knitting (because I can't lay still) while listening to tapes, going to the loo when I really don't have to and just being miserable in general. I too wrote back to Ninette. She was having a real bad time and my heart went out to her as I've been there too. The misery reaches such a crescendo that I've wanted to simply fly out of my tortured body in an effort to escape. Sometimes I've wondered if St. had RLS. Reading about his pleading with God about his misery makes me wonder especially when he gave in to the knowledge that he was going to have to endure. If RLS was his problem I feel a special empathy for that great man as he had no medicines to alleviate it and no one to share his torture. Guess I'll go back and see if I can lay still and go back to sleep for an hour or so. CHEERS TO ALL YOU NIGHTHAWKS!
