Guest guest
Hi gang: I went to see my doctor today because I've beginning to have bad mental problems with my clonazepan, .5 mg, which I've taken for 2 years. The first day I took it, it stopped my RLS cold! And for a year, I never even knew I had legs, they were so quiet. But in the past 6 months I've noticed that my mood is getting bad, my memory is going to the dogs, and I can feel the RLS knocking at the door. It hasn't come back, but I'm not entirely free as I was before. I also take Ultram, which stops the restlessness, and Ambien helps me sleep. Once before I tried stopping the clonazepan (Klonopin) but did it too fast and my mood went downhill in a hurry. This time I am cutting it slowly, 3/4 a pill for a week, then 1/2 pill. I'm not near the end of the first week on that. Will do it for 2 weeks, then 2 more weeks on 1/4 a pill if the creepy-crawlies don't come back. Then I'm wean off altogether if possible. All this leads up to the point of my rambling. I am horribly depressed, stressed to the max because of a whole bunch of problems, including my husband in the hospital twice, that have been dumped on me. But my doc says he can't give me any anti-depressant because it immediately activates the legs. He said he had a new anti-depressant that seems to work quite well without bad side effects, and he suggested that I ask if any of you on the support group had ever tried it, and if so, what reactions did you have? He says he will give me some to try, but suggested I first see what others may know about it. He is afraid to try anything that will start the RLS going again, for fear we might not be able to stop it this time, and he knows how awful it was for me. I appreciate his concern in that regard. So please, has anyone heard of, or taken, Celaxa 20 mg? Tellme anything you can, please. Thanks Lynne Gessner sdale, AZ

The Trazadone makes me very sleepy and even when RLS is at it's worse (and PLM) I usually get to sleep in about an hour at most. The only side effects have been the need to increase the dosage over the years and, in the beginning, I had to be very careful about taking with food (as prescribed, but not always as taken! LOL!) or would have a bad reaction... pounding heart, severe weakness, nausea, etc. I began my dosage at 75 mg and have increased it to 300 mg without any apparent problems. At least I usually sleep... no dreams tho! 56 - Female - TX
