Hi Kim, yes I only sleep a short time then wake up any where fron 1 and

1/2 hours to 4 hours tops. I smoke, but can't say if it affects my CMT or

not, I really don't think so. But I would have to stop in order to know for

sure wouldn't I? >Becky M.

Hi Kim, Peggie here. I smoke and the only thing I have found, is that it

helps to soothe my nerves when they get bad!! Not to mention, helps to keep

me from eating a lot - and certainly don't need the weight! The cost is the

worse part!!!!!

  • 2 years later...

I've had a few nights where the pain was just so bad I

couldn't sleep. I ended up having my doctor prescribe

something to help me sleep. He gave me a script for

Trazadone. it's puts me to sleep alright, but the next day I

feel like a zombie. Maybe you could talk to your doctor

about getting something to help you sleep. As for sleeping

on your side, I don't do that very often now, I usually

sleep on my back propped up with LOTS of pillows.

Kimber,

my rheumie prescribes ambien for me to use when I have trouble sleeping. It

works great and you wake up feeling alert and rested. No zombie or drugged

after affect. My insurance had a limit of something like 30 a year without

pre-approval. My rheumie just had to call in and I'm approved for one a day for

the entire year. I don't take one every single night, but probably take one

about 4 times a week.

thanks for the name of the med. I'll have to bring it up

with my doc. Actually, lately I've had no problem falling

asleep so I haven't had to take a trazadone. I've found that

1/4 or 1/2 a tablet doesn't give me anywhere near as bad a

zombie feeling depending upon how wide awake I am. The

doctor did say I'd have to play with the dosage amount to

get the right one for me. I'm allowed up to three a dose ( I

don't even want to thing what I'd be like with 3 of them.).

I'll keep the ambien in mind though if I continue to have

problems with the trazadone.

Can't sleep on my left side either. It will actually bring on an attack. Crazy

isn't it ? I have experiemented to see and it happens every time. No more

testing me ! I stay on my right side and back. I also learned that if I have

pain in the middle of the night, I drink something very cold and then sleep in

an upright position. It seems to help a little. And a little is better than

nothing !

I can only sleep on my side with a pillow under my side (mainly in the

This sort of answers one of my questions. I was going to ask if it was ok for

someone with Pancreatitis to take a melatonin supplement. I take trazadone for

my Fibromyalgia to help me sleep, and I thought maybe that might help my mom.

She gets very little sleep. Mom wanted me to ask if any of you have horrible

spine pain, especially when sleeping.

Also, are the enzymes that you can buy over the counter, the same as

prescription? Will they serve the purpose?

Thank you for all your past help. I finally have an appt for my mom with a new

doctor who specializes in CP. His name is Dr. Gorelick out of New Haven, CT.

She can't get in before the end of March though. In the meantime, she has gone

to her PCP, so at least she is getting some help.

Thanks again,

Lanie
