Guest guest
Hi Chen and welcome to CMTUS. Now I am 47, but when I was 11, I had one surgery - on both feet. I had hard casts on both legs up to the knees during one summer. That surgery was tendon surgery. It was recommended to my parents, for me, when I was a year younger and diagnosed with CMT. It must have helped me walk, since I am still walking (!) and don't require AFOS, just in-shoe orthotics to help my feet hit the ground in the right way. I just started wearing the orthotics 8 years or so ago. I've had a couple of EMG tests over the years, and yes, they hurt, the last one tho felt somewhat better. I don't fall nearly as much as I used to, which was about everyday. Now maybe only several times a year and I don't know why that is. When I DO fall, I am usually very tired and trying to do too much, instead of rest. All during my high school years I had physical therapy and that helped too.
