<< I've read a lot about Sinemet not working for more than a few months

normally

so I never bothered trying it. My question is do Permax, Mirapex, or Requip

last any longer??!! Please let me know if you've had longer term success with

any of these. >>

I used Klonopin for about 2 years.....it " worked " (in that I could go to sleep

even if my RLS was " hurting " me) but the side-effects (e.g. hangover,

depressing, irritability, etc.) were terrible.

I have taken Permax for about 1 1/2 years with great success. My RLS still

acts up here and there but not as often nor as regularly. I did experience

some mild daytime symptoms around 12:00 noon when I " rested " for lunch. I

also had some arm RLS symptoms during the day but again, not too bad and more

of a minor nuisance. I was taking 0.15mg for a long time and I would

occasionally take .20mg. About 2-3 months ago, I bumped the dose to 0.25mg

(one pill instead of the usual 3-4 pills of the 0.005mg tabs) and I have no

problems with day time nor arm symptoms now. How long will it last? Who

knows! However, I am currently " pretty satisfied " with my current dose of

Permax and my 5-10mg of Ambien at bedtime. One more thing, I learned via

trial and error that I eventually had to change my Permax dose from around 1-2

hours before bedtime (8:00pm) to more like around 4:30 - 5:30 pm with better

results. And one more freaky episode that only happened once, I had a

terrible episode of RLS around 4-5:00 in the morning. Has not happened since.

I thought that 4:00 am was one of the few times that you count on RLS to be

quiet and be good to you. Oh well!

Hi Bill and Group,

Mirapex has lasted longer for me, in relieving symptoms, and without the

rebound and augmentation of Sinemet, which was really bad after about 3

months. Mirapex is not a miracle drug - a side effect is insomnia, I

still have " attacks " , and daytime is a problem if I have to sit for any

length of time. Right now I am trying some alternative meds, and Jill's

techniques. This is like a war - we need to use any and all resources

available.
