Guest guest
Hi, I have CMT1A, diagnosed last year. My cmt is mild, the legs are the ones that are mostly affected - sprain ankles, falling down, triping etc... My question is about the hand though - my hand writing is the worst, so I usually type things, and usually I type really fast, but it seems that in some days I just don't feel the keyboard under my fingers, and I keep making mistakes, I already know to try avoid typing on those days - does it happen to you too? does it has a connection to the CMT? I also play the organ, I think in periods I don't practice a lot my hands are worst, it might have nothing to do with each other, but I do think that the playing keeps my hand a little stornger. Another question I want to ask is about all the bruises, it seems I'm always coverd with those nasty black and blue bruises, and it seems it takes them forever to disapear, is this the same with all of you? btw, I'm planning on going with some friends from uni, on a hiking a trip. I usually sprain my ankle (not to mention falling, and coming home all coverd with bruises), but this time I'm going to go with a Air Cast, I hope it would help, I've never tried it. These are new friends, none of them know anything about my CMT or anything. When I was diagnosed last year I was in high-school, and though I didn't tell people, most of my friends know something is wrong, just not by name - you can't hide all the falling and the sprains. These people haven't seen me fall so much, so most of them don't know anything, since I usually walk on high hills, and you can't see that normally I walk on my tiptoes tanks for letting me write, Chen
Guest guest
Hi Chen, I have the same problem with my hands, especially with my handwriting. I also prefer to type although sometimes it is also difficult. I am always covered with bruises and it is so embarrasing - I never even know how I get them! Please let me know if the air cast helps - I would like to enjoy walking more w/o always having to watch where I am stepping. jill > ---------- > From: Chen Lin > Reply To: CMTUS (AT) e > Sent: Tuesday, April 18, 2000 4:43 PM > To: CMTUS (AT) e > Subject: weakness in hands and other things > > Hi, > I have CMT1A, diagnosed last year. > My cmt is mild, the legs are the ones that are mostly affected > - sprain ankles, falling down, triping etc... > My question is about the hand though - my hand writing is the worst, > so I usually type things, and usually I type really fast, but it > seems that in some days I just don't feel the keyboard under my > fingers, and I keep making mistakes, I already know to try avoid > typing on those days - does it happen to you too? does it has a > connection to the CMT? > I also play the organ, I think in periods I don't practice a lot my > hands are worst, it might have nothing to do with each other, but I > do think that the playing keeps my hand a little stornger. > > Another question I want to ask is about all the bruises, it seems I'm > always coverd with those nasty black and blue bruises, and it seems > it takes them forever to disapear, is this the same with all of you? > > btw, I'm planning on going with some friends from uni, on a hiking a > trip.
