Guest guest
I've been on a waiting list for nearly a year, and finally got a message, which will allow me to make an appointment, which will allow me to wait another long time, and finally get to see a sleep specialist. Here's the deal - I'm afraid to go to the Dr. because a. he might take me off my meds in order to do a sleep study, b. I am well controlled right now ( I wasn't when I got the original referral). If it ain't broke- don't fix it... However, I have heard a lot of stories from members of this group, about RLS getting worse over time. maybe I'll need this sleep Dr. in the future, maybe I should go through whatever his process is, in order to have the care there when I need it (insurance, sort of.) What do you think? My RLS which I referred to as my 'jumpy legs' for years , is a sensation like a coiled spring deep in the muscles, the pressure builds up and then I just have to move my legs. If I resist the impulse to move, the tension rolls over like an unbearable wave. These waves are like clockwork, about 30 seconds long. Sometimes I'm sure the tension is coming from my hips or sciatic nerve. At my worst, the problem was in my upper arms as well. Permax is working for me right now and I am taking St. 's Wort for depression, Xanax for anxiety, ( this is a high stress point in my life right now). The sleep clinics are there to help us , right? Am I needlessly concerned? Thanks for any comments you may have. I read the digest every day. Best.... Margaret
