Jeanne & group,

How true this is !! It is usually too late, simply because we are

in such a hurry, when we discover we have exhausted ourselves and

" The RLS Monster " has struck before we could defend ourselves.

I will be leaving on the 11th of June to go on a mission tip to

Arlington, Texas. I really want to do this, but please picture (as it

is almost comical) me -- with RLS and very ADD

riding in a van of teenagers for 2 days there and 2 days back. We are

planning a 10 hour drive on Friday & a 7 hour drive on Saturday. I'll be

doing a lot of praying on that long ride, but I'll also be " popping " the

Xanax. Don't mean to use

irreverent " drug humor " as there is nothing funny about " poping " pills,

but I imagine you can all relate to what I'm saying.

I was right about 2 weeks when I charged up my street to the

top of the hill and back. I felt so good I started putting more and

more weight on it as I went. I felt ok when I got home, but that

evening and the next day I was SORE. I too thought I might have

fouled up my hip, in fact I got really upset about the whole deal. I

was ticked because I was reading all the posts about people running

marathons and carrying farm animals on their backs at 3 weeks, and I

didn't want to be left behind. But after a few days my hip settled

down and the fear went away. It takes time for the bone to not be

sore, especially if they grind of cysts etc. And they did cut

through the connective tissue of several muscles. When I over did it

I called JRI and asked to speak with a Doctor. When he called back

he told me that it would be very very unlikely that I had done

anything to the device, and that rest should resolve the issue, and

it did. I remember Steve in Colorado wrote that he had jumped on his

exercise bike and made himself sore too, so I think we all do it at

some point. And remember, we all heal differently. It takes 6 full

weeks for your synovial capsule to reform. My guess is that you feel

better already since you wrote your post just by resting.

Hi . I remember going through the same thing. Of course growing

up in Manchester, I was one of those carrying that farm animal on my

back at two weeks. I did E amil Lee about this and she said as long

as your leg did not swell up any more that you were all right. I was

sure I messed things up a few times but then the Europeans get right

on it so I had to think of that to. Ice is the answer to it. I think

everything is going to be all right for you. Lots of it is the

mental part. Take Care.

It wasn't the exercise bike that did it. It was going to the grocery

store (just like ). All that turning, twisting, and standing was

really bad. My advice is to wait about a week and a half before

heading to Whole Foods again and you'll probably find it to be a

much more pleasant experience.

I really didn't expect a Classical reference from Chris. Sometimes the

lad just surprises the hell out of me.

This is something many of us have discovered. Prior to surgery, I would

feel " I'm getting tired, perhaps I should stop (insert activity here)

soon " . Post op is often " I shouldn't have done that one last (insert

activity here) " . It didn't hurt at the time, and never felt like I was

overdoing it until I had already overdone it, and it was too late. Then I

would spend time repairing the injury (whether by rest, ice, or lower

activity). I don't know the reason for it--whether we are so used to pain

from having hobbled on bad joints for so long or what, but even three years

out, although it takes me a lot longer to overdo something, the same

phenomena applies.

I may swear off the pleasures of persuing produce for little while.

I'll just send out the designated shoppers!
