Guest guest
Hi . Peggie here. My brace has a rivet holding the top strap in place and has a second strap just above the ankle - also held with a rivet. The is how my brace man made mine. And again - they are very different - you have to shop around for a good brace man that is willing to give you what you need - not what he thinks you need. Since we are all so different that is hard - but if you find a really good brace man - he works with you - asks you what you need and how you need it done. I went through quite a few brace people before I found one that could truly help me. Most want me back in the old metal brace!! As if I could walk with all that weight!!! Your brace man should work with you on this. I also have a nice thick pad on the Velcro strap, and the pad is what is against my leg. I don't have any problems with mine hurting my leg - if it hurts you anywhere - he has to pull it out and adjust it to fit you. Sometimes can take 5 or more adjustments until it no longer hurts you..... this is a pain, but the only way I know of. If it hurts, or doesn't work - he has to keep on working on it until it works pain free for you. This is my 31 years of experience talking with wearing a short leg brace!!!!! Hope it helps you and hope you can get your brace person to get it fixed for you. If not, keep on him or threaten to return it to him...... if a pair of shoes don't fit, you exchange them for the right size, don't you? A brace is the same thing. Except much more expensive, and since you are paying him for his services, he is required to get it right!!! Have a good day. I am sorry you have had the problems with the surgeries. I feel for you!! I think that most of us have had many of these similar problems, and it is so unfortunate that it occurs - that is why you really have to make sure your doctors are communicating with you real good!!!! Too bad we can't trust them anymore. But, seems to be a way of life. Sad....
