Guest guest
Kim -- I don't know more than what I've lived -- My mom has CMT but her symtoms would not direct someone to think she has it. My Grandmother has it but was diagnosed with arthritis and diabeties not CMT. Three of my sisters have it -- only my older sister of four of us is symptomatic. By symptomatic I mean that are symptoms are not what brought us to the attention of the physicians. Our symptoms haven't stood out as CMT symptoms yet that is what we have. The gene is there -- for us. My uncles have it severly but no one ever thought to check out the women in our family because it was thought we had the CMT that was only passed to the males. That is until my older sister was diagnosed and then all of us had the genetic testing done (except my mother and grandmother who are pressumed to have passed it on to us). Now the many mild symptoms we experience we recognize as CMT because of our diagnosis. We don't just dismiss them. We are aware and take heed. Nice to hear your story Kim -- thank you.
