Guest guest
My doctor did a soft tissue (not bone) surgery on me when I was 13 to fix my left foot dropping to the side (I was walking entirely on the outer edge of the foot), and it was totally flat then but not it's dropping on the outer edge a bit again, but not progressing for the last 2 years or so. I am 18 now and now the doc wants to do a bone surgery since I'm all grown up, and I think my right foot needs it because it falls on the inner side. BUT, if they did me a soft tissue surgery and it helps for at least 10 or so years, wouldn't it be better to have it done to me every time I need it instead of the bone surgery? Anyone knows what an ankle fusion does that can't be temporarily done with soft tissue surgery?

When they do the soft tissue surgery they split healthy tendons and put them where sick ones are.

I do remember I was able to run prior to the 1st one but never did again after it. I did not get any physical therapy because I learned later that my dr. didn't believe in it. I'm glad Alice is getting some because I'm a big believer in it now and am sure it will make a big difference in her recovery. It can be painful at times, but it's worth the results. Best wishes, Melody >> My Dr didn't belive in braces. I had surgery at 7 and 19. PT never did a thing for me. I am sure it would have helped during the initial recovery time. The only time I didn't have it of course.
