Guest guest
Hi everyone I appreciate that the hot weather does cause problems with CMT but here in the UK it feels as if we're beginning a new ice age. The temperature is 10 degrees lower than the average and people are wearing their winter clothing. So, please forgive me if I envy you guys just a little but its so damn cold here I'm running the risk of frost bite. And on good days and bad days. My husband, when anyone asks how am I says she has bad days and worst days but that doesn't matter. A good day is when someone special (and we're all special) tells me they love me, so if no one has said that to you today I'm saying it - now you will all have a good day. Much love Sue X Re: Heat~Yuck! > > > >In a message dated 06/07/00 09:24:52 PM Pacific Daylight Time, > >rmax@m... writes: > > > ><< Hi all, how many of you are just dragging in this heat? I have no energy and I am just dragging all of the time;it feels like my legs weigh a ton each. So is this normal for us CMT sufferers? Its horrible to have to go through this but : What a relief as I thought something else was going wrong w/me ! Guest guest
Hi. Marc here. This temperature thing intriques me. I have always been a bit funny in regards to the highs and lows. I was the teen who never wore a jacket. Even when the temps dropped quite below freezing, I would just wear a sweat shirt (and I still am like this). But on winter nights I freeze. Usually it is my right foot which feels as if it has been packed in ice for hours when I climb into bed. In the summer when the temps climb above 85 or 90, I die. Especially, in areas of high humidity. But even here in relatively dry California the high temps do me in. I lose all energy, begin to ache, fall a lot, have trouble breathing, etc. What struck me as I read the messages from others was the trouble breathing. The heat does it to me big time. But a lot of the time I feel as if I am suffocating. I simply cannot catch my breath. It is an awful feeling and one I never connected to the CMT. When I was a child I had asthma attacks which went away, but I figured my shortness of breath related to that, somehow. It sometimes feels as if I cannot get enough oxygen; I throw open all the windows or head outside. This happens year round and does not seem to be weather or temperature related. Strange. Guest guest
Hi, Marc ... Strange how the feet feel frozen. I have that same experience all the time, in fact, as I am writing this, its about 70 degrees and all the toes on my left foot feel frozen. Also, I can't stand the heat, and like you ... people comment all the time about my lack of covering up in cold weather. I used to drive my ex crazy with this, like it was her business what I wore or didn't wear or something. Like I said many times before ... my cat Ella NEVER comment s on such things. What part of California are you living in? I'm in Ventura County, which is south of Santa Barbara, along the coast, and north/west of the San Valley ... all of which is north of Los Angeles the Damned. )
Guest guest
Hey there Marc, here in north ID the temp gets cold in winter and my feet suffer. However in the summer when it is hot above 85 degrees I feel very hot as do other people, I have not noticed any difficulty breathing, Hopefully this will not affect me. I have CMT1A and am worried about my son (24) who just within the last few months lost about 40 pounds and I have noticed a lot of trembling and fatigue. I am afraid he has inherited this curse from me, does a rapid weight loss have any relation to CMT? Has any one ever herd of such? -jr

Fatigue and pain slow us down a lot. Has your son been tested for diabetes? That can cause weight loss. I'm sure there are many other possibilities too, but I doubt it would be CMT related. I'm not a medical person. Kat
Guest guest
Hi JR. I haven't heard about any rapid weight loss in connection with CMT. I struggle with the opposite.
