Guest guest
Dear Group, I don't want to get into a discussion of Dr. McDonagh's treatment of RLS. I have no idea what his methods include, but I did want to make you aware of a recently published article in the British Medical Journal. Bradbury A, C, Allan P, Lee A, Ruckley CV, Fowkes FG. What are the symptoms of varicose veins? Edinburgh vein study cross sectional population survey. BMJ 1999;318(7180):353-356 The jist of the report is that most lower-limb symptoms (including RLS) probably have a nonvenous cause and surgical intervention is unlikely to alleviate the symptoms. I understand that Dr. McDonagh's treatment is not a surgical intervention. Nonetheless, just wanted to let you know about this study, which found that even with evidence of distended veins, the symptoms did not respond to treatment of the veins.
