Guest guest
Someone mentioned last week I think, about the need to set goals. I have always done this, but in the last 3 years my life has changed so much so couldn't do much. Now I am setting goals again. So my question is: how many of you set goals, short term/long term, or just daily or even by the minute? I feel good when I set goals and meet them, so that helps both the depression and self esteem. Gretchen >> I set goals. Long short what ever. I need to do it more. My goal for Adam last year was that he went to school everyday. He was the only kid in first grade to get that award. Why was that important to me? I want to make sure he is not a quitter when things get tough. My goal for Spencer was that he got honor roll every trimester. He got it all year. Why was that important to me to make sure he has self esteem. I set a few for my self over the years. The big one I did in 1990. Then again in 1994... I have a few left. Like story ... Guest guest
Gretchen, I agree. Goal setting is a very helpful practice. There have been days when things have taken a turn for the worse, and if not for the goals I had set, I would not have gotten anything done. Living with CMT, I find that there is a lot of uncertainty. I don't know how this day will go, never mind tomorrow, next month, or next year. I try to have goals toward which I'm working - for the day, the month, the year, five years, etc. In addition to this, I frequently - every three months or so - reassess in writing my priorities - financial and otherwise. This helps me to keep in touch with what is most important to me. My priorities are always shifting, slightly changing, and by putting it all down on paper, I can look at them and make sure I am on track. Hope this helps.
