Mike, Last night was the first time in a while I asn't awake at 3:45am!

Sorry I missed you. I often get into a game of gin on line when that

happens - you can chat with the other player while playing. The

combination of playing and chatting is one of the best ways to put that

rls to rest! It really works for me, and very quickly. Drawback: I

often don't want to stop playing, even when the legs become OK. Much

better than twitching and being frustrated and angry however.

It was one of those nights for me too. I woke up at 1AM and couldn't get

back to sleep. Milk and crackers didn't help, neither did the hot soak or

aromatherapy or my sound pillow. I don't know whether it was because of the

RLS or if the wakefullness bothered the RLS.

Finally at 4:30 I slid out of bed, went downstairs and did dishes, took Mr

Biggles outside then fed him and Machka the cat. Chores done I made myself

a cup of Ovaltine (the old time malt kind) and tried to get in some Bible

Study. Time rolled on. I finally decided Mr. Biggles REALLY needed a

shampoo so I got all the stuff ready and plunked him in the kitchen sink

where he got a good going over (he's very patient with me). After his

blow-dry and combing I fixed a half-assed topknot on him (as he stared at me

with those shiney shoe-button eyes) and he went off giving himself a

thorough shake.

Now it's 10 after 9 and I feel like going back to bed for an hour or two.

I'm actually sleepy. I've taken my Permax so that should hold me for a

while. The snow has stopped and the sun is shining and Biggles is barking

at a cat outside.

Enjoy the day everyone. Maybe tonight we'll all sleep soundly for more than

a couple of hours!!

Just thought that I'd let you folks know that I have found a great site that

will help keep your mind off of an RLS attack. I decided to write this after

Suzanne mentioned playing gin online. I had a pretty bad attack a few weeks

ago, very late in the evening and finally got around to reading one of my

Netscape newsletters. They had a link to a site where you can play all sorts

of games such as Crosswords, Jumble, Wordsearch, Solitaire and then they have

interactive games that you play with other people online such as: Backgammon,

Chess, Checkers, Euchre, Hearts, and my personal favorite, Spades. Although I

have yet to find anyone that I've been playing a game with that has RLS, the

games are open all night long and you can chat with others that you are

playing with. The link to the site is:

http://excite.netscape.com/games/online_games/ You'll just have to " register "

with the site for the first time, pick a " nickname " and a password and you're

ready to play. I agree with Suzanne, though, sometimes, even after the meds

have started working and the RLS has stopped, I have a hard time turning off

the computer. If any of you decide you're interested in this, let me know

privately, along with you chosen " nickname " and maybe a bunch of us can get

into a good game one night.

Take care,

Jodi
