Sometimes it is called spontaneous mutant. (Some CMTers object to the word mutant, btw.) I think it's wise to do whatever you can for as long as you can. I believe most CMTers are the same, but we are in different stages of progression. I used to ski, play tennis, bowl, hike, climb over big rocks and logs at the beach, and so forth. These are things some CMTers have never been able to do, but my CMT became aggressive at a later age than theirs did. They were not lazy or any other term that implies criticism, they were simply affected more and at an earlier age. We do the best we can, and we are all so different! Regarding opening jars, my best tool is an oyster knife. By inserting the tip it under the lid I can quickly break the seal (vacuum) of a jar and open it easily. I can still open a jar more easily than my husband can, because he just uses brute force. (DON'T do this with ordinary knives -- the tips will break off!)
