Guest guest
a, when starts high school, see if she can have 2 sets of books, 1 for school, 1 for home. At least she won't have to drag books back and forth. I too hated PE and was about to flunk out (like who carses anyway) because I wouldn't participate. That was years ago before ADA and IEP's, so my doctor wrote a letter to the principal, and we all had a meeting one day in his office to discuss what I would do instead of PE. So I would go to the Library and get a jump start on homework. So no more PE for me in Middle or High School. In college, I was missing 1 credit of PE the last semester before graduation. They weren't going to let me graduate without some PE. I had ridden my bike around that campus for 3 years! The Registrar, my Advisor and the Caoch same up with this: I would write a paper on the merits of bike riding (now is that BS or what?) Anyway I wrote the paper, and on my report card that semester it showed my 1 credit of PE listed with a grade of A! The only A I ever got in PE! I do think when dealing with schools it is necessary in these times to have an IEP in place for any child who has needs, and to get everything in writing. Also, make notes yourself on who you talk to, if you had special meetings, etc. Gretchen
