Guest guest
Hi, One reason I am suspicious as I received an unsolicited E-mail from this Dr. Meadows on his book but here is from the site and the url so you can go look it over. Did anyone else receive an unsolicited E-mail from him? If the book is so great then why didn't he send one to the RLS Foundation so they could review it? I guess I am doubly suspicious after the doc peddling varicose vein treatments as a cure all (still waiting to here from Dr. Buchfuhrer on it since authors article from medical literature are in S. CA where he is), this is another " cure all " which unforunately, is not reality. He says from review 180 articles 53 years; there are 363, every single one that came up on the Medline at that point that Dr. Elaty reviewed since 1966 to date and I bet other good RLS Docs have done the same. Dr. Elaty has the Medline updated by the hospital librarian every month to be certain there is nothing being missed. I'll E-mail Dr. Meadows asking if he has been sent a review copy to the RLS Foundation, some very knowledgeable folks who never leave a stone unturned on something that might help RLS sufferrs; Cate have you received one of this book for this purpose? http://www.mdrestlesslegs.com/ " Insomnia due to RESTLESS LEGS at bedtime plagues millions of people worldwide. Current dogma holds that it is inherited, is due to brain or spinal cord abnormalities, and is best treated with a variety of neurological suppressive medications, none of which work very well. " In Dread of Night " refutes those theories, identifies the causes of the condition, and makes sound medical recommendations as to what to do. His book is the result of considerable personal experience and an extensive analysis of the medical literature of the past 50 plus years, with conclusions that will benefit all who suffer from " Restless Legs " . Sorry to keep bugging you guys about this; just don't want to miss out if it has helpful info for my Mother's sake. Barbara

Guest guest
Barbara, Thanks for your follow-up on this note. No, the Foundation has not seen a copy of this book, but we plan to order one to see what he says. I'll let you know what I find out. There actually is one other book on RLS, called Akathisia and Restless Legs, which was written by Perminder Sachdev and published by Cambridge Press in 1995. It's definitely written for the medical person, but as you can well imagine, is quite out of date. Thanks again, Cate At 12:23 AM 3/25/99 EST, you wrote: >From: SurSiliImp@... > >Hi, > >One reason I am suspicious as I received an unsolicited E-mail from this Dr. >Meadows on his book but here is from the site and the url so you can go look >it over.
