Guest guest
i don't buy the theory " hyperexiteability of the spine " as the first cause of RLA " hyper " is a fancy term thought up by the N.I.H. to impress its victims (sounds impressive and scarey.)and also to perpetuate their research studies. " hyper " is the result of woman playing the victims role . that is the first cause . it seems mostly woman are affected. just like in rheumatoid arthritis. most of the R. A. sufferers are woman. Victims are under great strain. the fight or flight response is activated too easily..the result is a whole host of disorders headaches, p&n,rls, gastric stomach reflux,a burning in the chest cavity ect. this will get the whole rls community down on me, you are consumed with your illness. This keeps the gang together. you manage the illness or the illness will manage you. i believe in self-help so of course i come with a plan it reduced my rls ,p&n, headaches by 95 to 98% when i told the dr. i will not take drugs for rls he said " Arthur, then western medicine cannot help you " you already know about yoga and stretching their both very good and should be practiced 1/2 to 1 hr. per day. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ MY PLAN some of you said " when you tightened your muscles you felt better momentarily. You were doing progressive relaxation, DR. jacobson, book,YOU MUST RELAX. 1929 there are tapes i use from time to time, GUILFORD PUBLICATIONS, 72 spring st NY. NY. http://www.guilford. com three tapes i like: forehead and facial relaxation, tense -slo- relax. arms and legs heavy & warm. the t.s.r. tape is progressive relaxation the other two are passive. in other words, you are willing it to happen .you have to learn to establish some control over your own body.after all who is the boss. some of you have a breathing problem i used to have a hitch in my breathing. i would exhale and not inhale.the tapes will help the Japanese Buddhists believe that the seat of your emotions is in then belly. there are two tapes that work on belly breathing one is called SOFT BELLY MEDITATION. i cant find the other one at the moment. these two are not from Guilford. the tapes do not teach proper breathing techniques, you have to learn proper breathing elsewhere the Indians (Hindus) are big on teaching the technique very simple, only takes 5 min to learn, for those who live in NYC there is INTEGRAL YOGA INSTITUTE 13 St. south of 8th Ave I.Y.I.there are no weirdo's their mostly professional woman ages 20 to 55. they have a catalogue of classes. getting to know your breathing will set you on the course too relief. last but not least is the jewel in the crown meditation the centerpiece of raja yoga, the kingly yoga. the things i read here about med .are full of misconceptions. FIRST- ; learn how to sit properly, no half lotus or full lotus here, you have to sit with no back support on a chair or on the floor with a cushin.or on a Japanese style seiza bench.its easy to make a seiza bench from 3 pieces of wood. SECOND- learn to breathe properly, the belly breathing method THIRD- then correct attitude towards med,you are not trying to achieve anything. there is no particular goal. goals make you strive which causes tension. do not judge your med. session. when the time is up don't dwell on it.if you get any visions ,hear people talk to you ,its just a distraction.dont follow it.treat it like any other thought and get back to the job at hand, which is concentrating on the breath.i " m not to go into the details here exactly how tom do it. FORTH- learn the method of meditation, counting the breath. remember the main purpose here is not to deal with rls or any thing in your outerlife . this is inner life . i " mnot going to go into how you deal with the thoughts here. i wonder how many are still with me,do you think its worth it if you can cut your meds.to a fraction and still get a good 6 or 7 hrs .sleep arthur
