cell salts...........?

Dear Group,

Before I read Dr. Levin's letter tonight regarding the laughability of cell

salts, I had been to these sites and read quite a bit. Somehow, I know this

won't be received well.......but I feel obligated to tell you that I

definitely found it amusing.

My reasons aren't as scientific as Dr. L's........I know nothing about

pharmaceuticals. But when I read about the 1,000 to 1,000,000th of a part to

each pill, it really boggled my mind. It also reminded me of an expose that I

read recently in one of the Consumer Watchdog publications regarding

homeopathic remedies. The products were tested all over the United States and

it was found that most of the bottles had NOTHING in them but WATER! The

amount of the " medicine " was so infinitesimal as to not be detectable at all.

Let me remind you that homeopathic medicines are not cheap.....

The fact that there are 12 cell salts and that quite a few of the companies

sell them to be used according to the signs of the

Zodiac.....................................well..............

I know that there are a lot of Homeopathic followers out there, and I do not

mean to be ridiculing anyone's particular therapy. As I have said previously,

I took several courses in this very thing, and even received a " degree " of

sorts........lol.........I opened my mind to all of the alternative therapies.

I tried so many things before I turned to traditional medicine, and I believe

there are many that have much potential....some that did not work for me but

do work for others. I have developed this sort of " sixth sense " that guides

me in choosing which ones to place my faith in. I will not bore you with a

description of this feeling nor do I foolishly believe that it would work for

all of you. There are certain guidelines I follow regarding " Who " is doing

the selling, what their credentials are, how the products are being sold, what

the scientific data is, etc, etc. I have to say that I also take into

consideration whether or not the seller seems to be a " zealot " , shouting the

praises of his product that he may possibly claim to cure everything from

baldness to Cancer........ instead of someone who calmly presents his product

with dignity, giving you enough information to take home and think about.

I experienced both of these types of people tonight on my local radio and

television shows. Both were extremely excited about their advice, and in my

mind...(my mind only...) I could immediately tell you who I trusted. My

husband called my attention to the one........the one that I did NOT

trust.........and I have to tell you that he liked the guy. We have more

fights about stuff like this.......sure makes things interesting around here.

The other one was a physician with a tremendous amount of experience in

oncology. His education was of the highest quality and his peers gave him

tons and tons of respect. He is trying so hard to use his research in the

field of cancer to help people to help themselves by eating certain foods and

taking certain supplements. He has a massive amount of research on this

subject....and he has written a book about it. I will not mention the title

here, or his name. I am not pushing his product. I am only saying that I

felt I could trust him....I knew this instinctively.........and I will buy his

book.

After reading Dr. Levin's description of what happens in the body after

ingesting one of these " salts " , I feel even more strongly that my reaction was

the right one. Dr. L's education and experience really put him in a position

to KNOW what he is talking about.

Well, let me get down from my soapbox and go put my armor on............

Y'all sleep real well tonight.......and Happy Hanukkah to those of you
