Although we're typically in agreement, if the alternative deaths that you

believe occurred were really " swept under the rug, " " not directly

attributed to the herbal remedy " and/or blamed on a " prescription

medicine, " then how would you know otherwise? Moreover, I've kept up on

the ephedra hysteria, and in each case that I'm familiar with, the very

few deaths attributed to it fell under the category that I mentioned;

i.e., " the odd instance where some poor fool takes mega-doses " of the

substance. And that unfortunate result can happen with an overdose of

almost any anything--whether the FDA regulates it or not.

However, I do agree with you on one point: Herbs can have side-effects

(as can various foods; e.g., you can't eat grapefruit with certain blood

pressure, cholesterol or antihistamine meds) so you should always mention

such use to a doc, if you're on other meds.
