EMGs and a very strong child

HI,

Thought that I would sit down and write about my nightmare with EMGs.

I had my first EMG at the age of 22 and I can tell you that I would

rather have labor pains. The electrical impulses where so strong

that my arm was bouncing and by hand was waving without my concent.

I cannot tell you the pain I was in. My Bethany will not have an EMG

until the Doctors can prove that the test will help her in some way.

I see no reason to put her through that kind of testing.

I also want to tell you about my little girl. She is the strongest

person that I know. I know that I have talked about her before, but

she really knows how to keep going. I need to be about to have half

as much strength as she does.

Bethany has CMT 1A and has been on local feed of the Labor Day

Telethon since she was 3 years old. The local chapter really liked

the work that she did so when she was 7 they asked her to be a local

Goodwill ambassador. She accepted and was off and running. She talk

to groups as small as 10 people then she graduated to much large

groups. At 8 she was promoted to state ambassador and her greatest

accomplishment at 8 was speaking to a group of over 400. She has

more courage than most adults I know.

Bethany is now a 4th year girl scout and also rides horse in the

summer. No matter how busy her summer is she always finds the time

to help other and to work with MDA on many events. She is also a

mentor for a little boy who has CP in her school. Bethany has

problems getting around with her AFOs and her handwriting will never

be beautiful(accept in my eyes)because of the muscles in her hand,

but she really doesn't care. She just wants to be a great person and

will not let other people say who she is.

Thanks for giving me a place to brag, sorry this is so long

Dawn
