Guest guest
Carolyn, My feet only become numb if I stand on them in one place for longer than 10 minutes. They just kind of 'freeze' in one place. This has happened my whole life, since I was about 12. The minute I move around, either walking or sitting, the numbness leaves. My right foot has always been weaker and prone to more pain and soreness. I have short, wide feet with some hammertoes. My feet are not symmetrical, neither is my entire body. One Dr. once told me I can't possibly have CMT because CMT is always symmetrical. My entire right side of my body is weaker than the left, says the physical therapist. I have only had the one foot surgery. I can move my feet, heels, ankles, but when it comes to toes, like wiggling them, can't hardly do it at all. Without my shoes and orthotics, I walk OK, but I walk on my toes, especially when I am tired at the end of the day. This has pretty much been the way of my life. Although feet got wider as I got older. I started wearing 1/2 in shoe orthotics maybe in the 80's, in the 90's went to full ones. Old orthotist died, so had to fine a new one and he is even better. He said full inshoe orthotics would benefit me and they do. I guess all I can say is don't worry abouot progresion. I spent years in worry and it didn't do much good. Everybody's different and our feet are different too. Gretchen
Guest guest
(9.9) has had that problem too with his feet. Cracking, bleeding, etc. we assumed from sweating. We constantly made him change his socks and put hydrocortosone on - sure - try to spell that without looking at 7 in the morning! The poor kids cries and walks around like he is crippled from the pain. Thank God its not my daughter - I would be driving myself off a cliff!! HE is great about it! He puts medicine on, changes his socks and tries! Rosemary in New York with 3 children with CF - they are 12, 9.8, 5.9...I coined the phrase " BREATHE DAMMIT " ; and now we have a dog named - are you ready for this - TOBI after their medication! Guest guest
This is so wierd b/c Jake has cracked feet and dry toes. I just bought athlete's foot medicine for it. I thought that was what it was. It seems to be helping. Also, I notice his hands peel and he picks at the skin. this makes it worse, and the poor kid comes up to me and says " Boo-boo. " I just thought it was Jake, and I never brought it up to the doctor. Maybe it's a defiency in a vitiamin or something. Especially if so many of us have kids with the same problem. Hmmmm. .. . Guest guest
If these problems are caused by sweaty feet why not try a deoderant with antipersperant on them? That is what a doctor had me do when I was a teen. It really does work.
